Berry Home on Manchester

Berry Home 647

Berry Home 160

Here are two pictures of the Dr. John Marshall Berry home at 8950 Manchester Road.  It was in the location to the rear of the present day Elaine Rosi Academy.  The top picture shows the home when the Berry family lived there, approximately from 1910 to the mid-1930’s.  In the mid-1930’s the home was purchased by Mrs. Pearl Gould.  It became the Gould-Worth Convalescent Home.  In later years, the home became a place for juveniles.  We are not sure when the building was razed.  It may have been in the early 1980’s.  Does anyone know for sure?

The area of small trees and brush in the forefront of the top picture is where it is said there was an entrance to the infamous Brentwood cave.
